For Allie's birthday cake I wanted to attempt to use fondant for the first time. While not quite brave enough to cover the entire cake, I decided to use it to make nice round bubbles that went with my bath theme. As well as get a feel for what exactly it was and how hard it was to work with.
It turned out to be quite easy (and fun) and made the bubbles on my cake look exactly right. The blue of the frosting also made the water look great, so overall it turned out exactly as I had planned.

Cody's 3rd Birthday
This birthday found me interested in working with a variety of frosting colors and piping. So, I made a blank canvas with white and mixed color frosting to practice making circles using snipped off ziplock bags. Overall it came out beautifully, but again I realized what limits I had on getting frosting colors nice and dark. Not to mention the limits of smoothness that can be accomplished with frosting alone. However, I did learn that adding store bought characters makes any cake a success, so Mickey did just the trick!
