If I think back hard enough, one of my first adventures on my journey of making cakes was for Brian's mom. The family had planned a surprise weekend gathering for her birthday and we needed a birthday cake. Despite having a two hour drive to get home, I offered to make the cake and this is what I made:
I remember spending time to find frosting in a can I could spray on in bursts, as well as purchasing fancy mint M&M's to make it look elegant. I'm not sure it turned out exactly as I had planned, but it was my first attempt at cake decorating (and it tasted delicious). It was from here that I developed an interest in attempting something new each time I made a cake, and so began my journey.

Cody's 1st Birthday
I'm not sure you could exactly call this a cake, but I was nervous about making a cake that would fit the quality of the party I was throwing, so I avoided it all together. Instead, I let the theme take the lead and ended up with this:
It was extremely adorable and everyone loved it. Sure my kid didn't have the classic 1 year old picture with frosting all over the place, but he sure had something that went with the theme.
